FTJ, Entry 28: Life's a Beach...Again

We heard there was snow and sleet up in Connecticut today, so we hate to rub salt in the wound with our photos of our beachfront RV site for the week! We checked into Beverly Beach Camptown Resort on Friday -- it has been very sunny and in the 60s, but the weekend was super windy, which made it a bit cool. Today, things settled down a bit and the temp got up to about 70 -- it was gorgeous.

So here is where we are, folks:

The view from our windshield -- the RV is right over the beach!

Can't beat this!

Our front yard until Friday -- there was a lot of wind and a lot of surf on Sunday!

Directly behind our RV is an older National RV (ours is a National Dolphin LX), owned by Cappy the Clown

She is a heck of a gal from Massachusetts, who just came back from a trip to Ohio to entertain a sick child. When we met her, she still had remnants of her clown makeup on! Coincidentally, she also owns a lot for her RV at the park we just stayed at in Hilton Head. Small world.

Today we took the RV to Daytona Beach (about 40 minutes from here) for service and had the brake problem resolved at no cost (there was a recall). It took all day, but we got to explore Daytona. I was here WAY back in 1967, and remember Daytona Beach as the most beautiful and amazing beach ever. Hmmmm -- something has changed, in that the sand was not rock hard (it was a bit spongy) as I remembered it, and it seemed much less impressive. A bit of a letdown. We both agreed that we prefer Myrtle Beach.

The world famous speedway!

The three of us played a rousing round of mini golf while waiting for the RV to be serviced. Buddy won.

Life is tough for us, huh?

Forgot to mention that on Sunday, we went to a seafood festival in the next town over, Palm Coast.  On the way we stopped at a surfing contest in Flagler Beach.

The food at the festival was expensive and mediocre, but we had fun -- and met a really authentic looking pirate who smoked Cigarillos and had a voice like thunder.

Buddy enjoyed barking at every living thing he saw. Here he is in an oyster tent, with his mama.
And below this pic, Beau enjoying a non-seafood entree.

Buddy resting after returning home. What a beach bum!
Well, enough for tonight. Just a last photo, of what we see out the windshield when we wake up.

Tanks, Panky
