FTJ, Entry 143: Wine Tasting and Sad Farewells

Two more shebangs were held before the big spring departure this morning from Carrabelle Beach RV Resort. First, we enjoyed a final group lunch at 2 Al's, a local eatery. Then, last night we attended an intimate wine tasting soiree in the clubhouse, meeting some new people and giving us a chance to spend some time with many of our other pals who were heading home today.

Never wanna say goodbye (isn't that a song)? Oh so true, my friends. But at least a few of the departing snowbirds went out on a high. All right, so it was an alcohol-induced high, but why quibble?

Goodbye luncheon at 2 Al's. From left, Ardee, Kenny, me, Beau, Carl, Ruth, Kay, Ron.

A fuzzy but nice pic of special friends Carl and Ruth. Miss you guys already!

Later that night... (sounds like a screenplay), the group reconvened for a wild and crazy sock hop -- no no, it was the wine tasting, of course.

Oh yes, it is obvious that the wine has kicked in. RV Park Manager Sheryl with Ruth and Carl.

Beau chats with a very nice couple we met, Mary and Ross. They own an adorable schnauzer pup named BeBe. (I should say that BeBe owns them, I suppose, as is typical with us dog lovers.)

More wining, more tasting., more happy red facing. All right, not quite a rhyme, but apropos nonetheless.

Yet another good time was had by all us old folks. Ah yes, it has been a frenzied blur of crazy antics and wild adventures at Carrabelle Beach RV Resort. (You scoff, but we seniors can get pretty whacky, you know. Hey, at this point, we have nothing to lose, no one to impress...and we are all going a bit soft in the head. Live it up!)

Then this morning, the sad farewells. We really hope we manage to meet up with these great people again next winter.

I think Danny was trying to tempt Ruth to stay longer by exposing his amazing pecs.
Sorry, Danny. Didn't work.

Ruth gave Danny's chest a final gaze, then she was off.

Safe travels to our friends!

Ardee and Ken departed a little while later.

Bye, guys! (Kay and Ron left in between, giving us a honk from their truck, but I missed getting a photo.)

I hate goodbyes, dammit. All our best to our wonderful new friends as they head home. Au revoir -- till we meet again....

And so here we are, alone, downcast, and bereft. (Sigh -- it is all a bit depressing.)

Of course, as soon as our car is fixed, we too will be heading out for our next destination, Panama City Beach. Not sure when that will be, but we are hoping for Tuesday.

A couple we met here, Don and Marge, were headed to the same Panama City RV resort, so we will at least know someone when we arrive.

What new adventures await? Who the heck knows. But the anticipation is excruciating, isn't it? Hold your breath and hang on, people, as we head toward the next stop on our Hellzapoppin RV Tour.

Wild things, ain't we? (OMG -- I am embarrassed reading this silliness, but who cares?)

Tanks, Panky
